One of my favorite genres in fanfic is hurt/comfort, but it's really hard to find it done well. This fandom has a lot of opportunity for canon-based h/c (alcohol and substance abuse, mental illness, difficult childhoods, catching on fire, etc), but sometimes you need a little...more.

One of the great things about AUs is that they can let an author explore themes that just wouldn't work as well or as easily in canon. The theme for this set of recs is kink: BDSM, cross-dressing, sex toys, tentacles.
